lol. maybe he is unknown to you, but I wanted my team to get another 1st round to get him, his stock went up since last year, he was projected to be a 2nd rounder to undrafted, but I have seen his video for a couple of years already,  I wanted my team to draft him.

  I highly doubt there are any 7’2 players in the world that are “secrets” especially in China of all places. It’s just no other team had him rated anywhere close to mid 1st round.  Videos are probably coming out to justify their pick to the fans.  He looks decent, but I like Clingan better.

you are right, but to be honest, we watched his game over 2 years. I would say there are still something changed in past 2 months, i think he shows more poaaibility to not only Portland. You know CBA is a low level league, his team did not use him correctly either. Shooting out side was not an option, although you see some 3 shot in the highlight clip. If you by chance followed his training in different team for past two month, actually his shooting ability is upgraded.(i hope he can keep it up in the Season), and his shooting was corrected by the NBA trainer after he landed to US two month before. Also the training and the combine try out cleared some convern about him on the move, steps shooting ability, and the defensive. I think those things made the change and difference. I guess no one from the other team like Timberwolves, Nets, Atlanta will ever say how good he will be, but who knows, maybe Blazers really dont want to risk to lose him. Anyway, hope he can make it, good for him and good for his team.

Why did Hansen Yang work out for 14 teams, yet the public knows so little about him? Why wasn't he in the Draft Green Room? Clearly, it's because all the teams wanted to drive down his price, not letting each other know they intended to sext him, hoping to snag him with a lower pick. The truth is, Hansen Yang is the strongest center in the 2025 draft. If he were American, he'd be a top-5 pick. The Trail Blazers' GM and owner were very clever. I do as well... I feel his iq will be leaps and bounds over most of the rookies in this class. Hell his offensive game might unlock clingan on the offensive side. his passing already is elite at the NBA level. And I like the fact he's willing to back down and bang in the low post. His footwork also is nice to see.

If the Trail Blazers don't choose, Minnesota, Atlanta, and Brooklyn will choose。Timberwolves were low key targeting him at 17th. Just look at the T-wolves draft headquarter after the Blazers snatched him at 16th. They were dead silent. Yang wouldn't slip past 19th pick as the Nets were definitely picking him there.（and If you are mocking, I think you are very impolite and unfair to Yang.He doesn't know he will be chosen

Shooting - B (projects to be a solid shooter with 3 point range)
Rim protection - ? (hard to gauge due to low level competition)
Perimeter defense - D (even though he won DPOY in the CBA, he needs to improve a lot to be a playable big)
The biggest positive for Yang is that Portland drafted him so high compared to his projected mock position so he will get every opportunity to prove himself. Some players in the second round have high potential but never get a chance because they don't have enough advocates within the organization. Cronin and their lead scout's reputation is on the line so they will give him a good look and it will be up to Yang to prove himself.

There’s nothing more impressive than a big with a high basketball IQ. It’s easy for seven-footers to rebound, block, and dunk the basketball but the greatest big men in the NBA excel on other fundamentals like footwork and passing. Yang Henson is just that and then some, someone to definitely watch develop into a Sengun/Sabonis role.

I am happy with this pick, do I think we could have picked someone else, sure, but I live in China, I have met Yang a few times, seen him play in real games in the CBA and before that. I think he will surprise some folks. For those asking why when we have centers. First I think signals a trade for Ayton and or Williams, second of all, he will take sometime to work on, this still lets Clingan being our starter, while at the same time Yang gets better and in two to three years we have two quality centers. Yang can block, he is faster than you expect, he does have a god shoot stroke, can score at the rim. I think the hardest thing for him will be fouls and traveling.

Aaaand that's the reason why he's here. This is all about viewership and $ from the Chinese, for sure. We have clingan, they can't play together, the end. On that alone it's a bad pick...but it's bad in multiple ways including way too high. But nothn else matters..on clingan here alone it doesn't work. This purely a deal for more viewership while the team needs sold and more $ of course along with that. Horrible pick if u actually care about bball

Kinda crazy how he doesn't look 7' 1" with the way he moves. He stays down so low like a guard. If he's actually the Asian Joker, the league is in trouble.

I love how this kid plays, the roster Movements are great and it seems there are more to come having a ton of big man unless they move ayton at the four. Wishing him a healthy career in portland, hopefulky a better medical staff because of the history with this franchise that big men often get injured.

By all reports, he has the things you can't see. Loves the game of basketball, and makes others around him better. I think those are vastly underrated when it comes to talent uation. Many players look the part, but simply don't care enough to do the extra things at home that are neccessary to become great. You can't just show up and expect to grow. It's a whole lifestyle. And Yang clearly cares about that, because he loves the sport. I think it's a great pick for Portland, and rooting for the kid.

my only concern with this pick is the lack of diversity it brings, unless him or clingan develop a good 3pt shot its hard to play both of them at the same time. Mainly im just salty we traded the 11th pick when we couldve gotten Queen but the return from the trade was pretty good.

He's passing tells a lot about a player's basketball IQ in regards to court vision, timing, and making the right play. Similar to Jokic, you need to get a good feel of the situation and call the right shots. These clips doesn't show a lot but it looks promising.
